The Aerial Ropeway in Nainital is one of the biggest tourist attractions. With hundreds of visitors flying in each day, aerial ropeway carries people from Mallital to the Snow View Point, one of the popular places to visit in Nainital. This three-minute ride is no less than a dream as it offers you the best bird-eye view of the Nainital City and Naini Lake.
Connecting the near flats of the Nainital city to the Snow View Point, this ropeway starts at Mallital and takes around 3 minutes to cover one side of the journey. Two trolleys are designated for carrying passengers to and fro. The cabin capacity is a maximum of 825 kg or 11 people.
The aerial ropeway is made in collaboration with swiss technology with a state-of-the-art positioning and view. The ropeway has got a steep climb both uphill and downhill offering passengers an excellent panoramic view of the surroundings.
Start Point - Mallital
Mallital is the upper end of the Naini Lake and the Mall road where you can find great shopping places. A variety of multi-cuisine restaurants and eateries are present in this area offering some finger-licking good food. End Point - Snow View Point
Snow View Point is one of the most beautiful spots in the Nainital as it offers a magnificent view of the snow-covered mountain peaks of the Great Himalayas. The Snow View Point is 2270 m above the sea level. A large pair of binoculars is installed at the Snow View Point for the visitors to have a close look at the snow-covered peaks.
There are provisions for children’s entertainment at the Snow View Point. An amusement park has recently been started and in the open area you can find food stalls, offering hot chocolate, Maggi, tea, coffee and soft drinks.

The ropeway ride is chargeable on both sides. There are different rates for adults and children.
For adults the prices are Rs. 300 for a two-way journey and for children it is Rs. 200 for a two-way journey.
Timings
The ropeway remains functional from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on all days of the week. The total exploration time it takes to explore the Snow View Point through ropeway is about 2 hours.
How to Reach the Aerial Ropeway
The aerial ropeway is located in Mallital which is the upper end of the Nainital city. It is about 2 km away from the Nainital bus stand. You can hire an auto-rickshaw or simply walk to the start point.
If traveling by air, the nearest airport is the Pantnagar airport which is around 72 km away. You can hire a taxi cab from top rental companies in Nainital from the airport to Mallital.
If you are traveling by train, the nearest railway station is the Kathgodam Railway Station which is about 36 km away. Local traveler cabs, private taxis and luxury buses are available to commute from the railway station to Mallital.
If you are traveling by road then Mallital is about 42 km away from Haldwani, a major district of Nainital. Haldwani is 2 km away from the Tallital bus stand, Nainital.

The aerial ropeway is strategically located within the bound of the Nainital city which gives tourists a great opportunity to explore other options nearby.
You can enjoy a boat ride at the Naini Lake which you can spot from the ropeway trolley. Surrounding the Naini Lake is the Mall road that offers great food and local craft.
Take blessing at the Naina Devi temple which is only 1.8 km away, and witness the Great Himalayas at their beautiful best. Naina Peak, Tiffin Point and Snow View Point are some of the famous spots in Nainital which are under a radius of 4 km.

Things to keep in Mind
Be careful while getting in and out of the ropeway trolley especially with children. As the trolley is hanging on the rope, there are chances of mis-balancing.
The cable car takes you to Snow view Point which is at a height of 2270 m above the sea level, hence can get quite cold. Wear or carry sufficiently warm clothes when you go there.
